行政院長毛治國今(11)日在行政院會聽取衛福部「中東呼吸症候群冠狀病毒感染症(MERS-CoV)疫情」報告後表示，MERS於南韓感染病例仍持續蔓延，在短時間內已成為全球第2大感染國，我國應秉持「料敵從寬、禦敵從嚴」的態度，持續加強戒備。但為了避免過度恐慌，一旦有不實疫情謠言，將嚴加追查造謠者。
毛治國並責請衛福部，嚴密監控掌握南韓及國際疫情發展，做好各項防範準備，加強邊境檢疫，防堵病毒入侵我國，並持續強化醫療防疫體系的整備及醫護人員的警覺，請各相關部會積極配合。
此外，毛治國請衛福部儘速研議相關措施，對曾經前往南韓或中東地區，返國後有疑似病症的人員，就醫時應明確告知旅遊史。
但毛治國強調，也要避免過度恐慌，一旦有不實疫情謠言，應儘速澄清，並嚴加追查造謠者，請通傳會及警政單位全力協助。
